Bookstores in District 1

Conveniently located near Le Thanh Ton are some very good bookstores.

This is a three floor building bookstore. Novels in Vietnamese and in English and other special interests books are at the ground floor. They also have book signing activities held here. Third floor has the children’s books and comics, all in Vietnamese, and the school and office supplies.

I went there one time trying to find a specific title, the staff was kind enough to assist me find the book I want in their database. Unfortunately, they don’t have what I want, the 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

This bookstore comes handy with basic office or school supplies’ needs.

Tri Books is an art and history bookshop. They have titles about Vietnam’s history, recipe books and traveling around Vietnam. They also have a variety of art crafts and souvenirs, movie posters locally painted, Vietnam post cards and assorted types of pop-up cards. It is good to stop here and get a feeling of modern Vietnamese crafts.

Accessibly located at the Basement 2 of Vincom Center, Phuong Nam carries many book titles in Vietnamese and translated in Vietnamese ( I was surprised and amazed to see the novel of Gillian Flynn the Gone Girl translated in Vietnamese).

They have many gift items here and specialty pop-up cards on all occasions. They also have a very cozy cafe inside the bookshop.
